John has over 20 years of experience across human spaceflight, engineering management, strategy and partnerships, program/project management, real‑time mission operations, and investment management. He was previously Division Chief of the Aeroscience & Flight Mechanics Division at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC). He was also JSC’s lead strategist and business development manager in its Partnerships Office, acting as its primary liaison to the commercial space and energy sectors. He has experience as founder of an investment management and financial consulting firm and a real estate investor. He served as a board member of a nonprofit supporting survivors of human trafficking. He has an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue.
Sean has over 15 years of experience as a space industry analyst, diplomat, and policy expert with broad expertise in the commercial, national security, and civil space sectors. He was previously the lead authority in the White House on international space policy as Director of International Space Policy in the National Space Council. He is a former Diplomat with the U.S. State Department and has particular expertise in Asia, national security, and space-related affairs. He spent 1 year as a secondee to the Government of Japan (METI, JAXA, MOD, National Space Policy Secretariat, etc.) as a Manfield Fellow. He has an M.A. in International Relations from The George Washington University and a B.S. in International Affairs from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is fluent in Japanese.
